The Interview

1.In advance think about the sort of questions you may be asked and work out the answers e.g. What do you think your strengths as a nanny will be? (I love children is not a good enough answer on its own ).
Try to imagine what you would ask if you were the parents.
You may also be asked 1st Aid Questions.
2. Take great notice of the children (they are the key to your success). Talk to them.
3. Ask questions firstly about the children and the family before question about pay, conditions Tax & N.I. and a contract of employment. (It is O.K. to refer to that list of questions you have taken with you)
4 NEVER accept or decline a job on the spot. Always go away , think about it, talk to the agency . (they may be able to negotiate different terms to make the job acceptable)
5 Smile at all times !!

Extra Advice

1. The right job for you may not be the same as the right job for your friend. Stick to your instincts.
2. It is not usually a good idea to take jobs organised through friends or work for relatives. If they go wrong it causes great embarrassment to everybody concerned.
3. You should always have confirmation of the job offer in writing ( for the future do not give in your notice until you have this written offer)
4. Always insist on a contract of employment.
5. The payment of your Tax & N.I. is your employers responsibility.
6. For the future. It is wise not to give in your notice in a job before you have found the next one. Do not be persuaded otherwise by pushy agencies.
7. If you have problems with a job talk to the agency who found it for you

Enchanted Childcare will always be happy to give advice whether they place you or not!!

GOOD LUCK!
